2004 Spring Trip To China

On March 30, HOLA embarked on a three week journey through Southwestern China.  The travelers included students,  teachers and parents.  After staying in Hong Kong prior to entry and on egress from the Mainland, the students stayed in Kunming, a modern tourist city, and in  Li'jiang.  Highlights included attending a school session, hiking to Tiger Leaping Gorge in the Yunnan Province.

The trip was led by Don Van Zante, a teacher at HOLA, who spent twelve years in China and speaks Mandarin fluently.

2003 Awesome Fall Backpacking Trip

Our 2003 Fall backpacking trip was to the Weminuche Wilderness Area near Durango, Colorado.  Students rode the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and relived the history of the Old West settlers and miners.  The mystery of the Anasazi Indians came to life at the Mesa Verde National Park with its archeological museum and visitor center.
