HOLA or the HOUSTON OUTDOOR LEARNING ACADEMY is a full-time school for students who wish to combine their innate curiosity, love of the outdoors, and academic growth into an educational setting that uses a hands-on approach to enhance self-esteem, multiple intelligences, academic knowledge, social skills, and personal success.

We are a school with a focus on the outdoors. We welcome diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis or race, color, national or ethnic origins, sexual orientation, gender, or religion. Please feel free to call or e-mail us with any additional questions about the school or program. Our phone number is 713-224-4652.

We are an alternative to mass schooling. We do not have tardy bells, overcrowding, uniforms,  or 45-minute periods.

HOLA operates on the premise that the curriculum for each student should be individualized based upon the skills, talents, and interests of the student. All students should attain academic excellence, but all students will not reach the goal on the same path.

The outdoors is our resource for motivating students and a catalyst for academic growth. Making connections between student interests and the academic curriculum is accomplished by our outdoor activities. The outdoors is a perfect hands-on lab for learning math, science, and social studies, and is a perfect motivator for encouraging growth in reading, writing, and the arts. Developing self-confidence, responsibility, and social skills are achieved through experiences and challenges inherent in the outdoors. Our curriculum provides a structured educational setting, but the outdoors provides students with the opportunity for developing creativity, problem-solving, and intelligence in a natural, unscheduled environment.
