Welcome! Houston Outdoor Learning Academy, "HOLA", is pleased to offer Houston's only full-scale, adventure-based experiential school, integrating outdoor and environmental education with the academic curriculum. HOLA exists to serve students in grades 6-12, who wish to find their academic potential in an active, hands-on, and real world context, which integrates travel, cultural/global awareness, and independent study opportunities, such as internships, Advanced Placement Courses, and daily preparation for standardized tests, such as the ACT and SAT. These are factors colleges consider when recruiting students. HOLA offers a challenging integrated curriculum structured unlike any other school in Houston or it's surrounding areas and it will equip your son or daughter with all the skills and credits necessary to pursue higher education.

HOLA follows the guidelines commensurate with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, but goes well beyond these minimum standards, infusing the curriculum with additional field study, opportunity for extensive travel abroad and within the United States, and ample opportunity to develop leadership and the self-sufficiency crucial for success in college and beyond. HOLA will provide your child with the skills and educational foundation, which will serve them well over their lifetime.

We are confident that HOLA offers an exceptional opportunity for learning all core academic subjects necessary for graduation, in addition to opportunity for further explorations, independent study, and social skills development. Students learn in an individualized, unique, and worthwhile curriculum in a positive, nurturing learning environment. Experiential educational opportunities, such as travel, field study, and community service are integral components within HOLA's overall conceptual framework for success. An extremely low student/teacher ratio of 5:1 ensures your child will receive one-on-one attention and guidance, so crucial for student success. No more than 25 full-time students will be enrolled at on time, ensuring that HOLA is able to create a "learning community". Hands-on learning opportunities, based upon holistic, whole-brain learning models and multiple intellegence theory, ensure student success in a truly unique environment.
